During one of Christopher Reeve's last interviews before he died, he told the world to "Go Forward," encouraging us to challenge ourselves, and each other, to achieve greatness. Christopher was a hero to many people, yet he always said it was the ordinary people living with disease and disability who were truly extraordinary.
Now these people are being recognized with Superman Tags, dog tags engraved with the Superman S-Shield and the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation's new tagline, "Go Forward," inspired by Christopher and those everyday heroes who inspired him.
"The Superman Tags are a fun way to get involved with a great cause," says Dana Reeve, 44, chairwoman of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, which works to fund research for paralysis and spinal cord injuries. "Christopher believed that to overcome any adversity, no matter how challenging, you need to Go Forward each day with strength, determination and compassion. Our new tagline is testament to my husband’s will to find cures and treatments for paralysis and live life to the fullest, something everyone should strive to do."
And that’s exactly what Dana is doing, despite her recent revelation that she has lung cancer. Dana, the mother of one and stepmother of two, says she is undergoing treatment with an excellent team of physicians and is optimistic about her progress.
